Visit the Imperial City, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site. Hue was the former capital of Vietnam under the Nguyen Dynasty (1802–1945). The city is considered a vast living museum, with numerous historical monuments, imperial tombs, pagodas, and temples that tell the story of the country’s last feudal dynasty.
Continue by road to Thuy Bieu village, located between the city center and the tombs of the Nguyen emperors. This ancient village is famous for its grapefruit plantations, whose fruits were once offered to the royal family.
As the cradle of Hue’s culture, Thuy Bieu is an old village now developing eco-tourism. It is home to many century-old garden houses, hidden among fruit trees — especially grapefruit trees — all covered in a lush green shade. The typical garden-house architecture of Hue reflects the traditions, customs, and cultural identity of the Nguyen dynasty.
Take a bike ride through the countryside, with several stops planned: at an old temple dedicated to the village’s guardian spirit, at the local school, and at a family home that owns one of the three oldest houses in the village. These traditional houses are decorated with wooden carvings of dragons, phoenixes, and natural scenes that adorn the columns and beams.
Return to your host family and join them in preparing lunch with typical dishes such as fig salad and lemongrass duck.
After lunch, relax with a herbal foot massage.
Then return to the city center by car.
Next, enjoy a bike ride to Chuon Lagoon, passing through typical local villages. Along the way, stop at the Thanh Toan Covered Bridge.
Located about 10 km from Hue, Chuon Lagoon is part of the Tam Giang Lagoon system, where three major rivers — the Perfume River, the O Lau River, and the Bo River — converge before flowing into the sea through the Thuan An estuary.
The local people live mainly from fishing and aquaculture, following the rhythm of the tides. Life here remains peaceful and slow-paced.
At the lagoon, board a small boat and let yourself be immersed in unspoiled nature. Admire the poetic beauty of the scenery in complete tranquility — a paradise for photographers.
Enjoy the sunset while tasting some freshly caught seafood.
